Blue Ridge Sound’s founder, John Holder has over 25 years experience in the audio & lighting industry. John was raised with a strong background in the musical arts, and in his early twenties, discovered his strongest talents were in live sound engineering. Growing up as an electrician’s son, coupled with a degree in electronics and a passion for quality sound, helped lay the groundwork for John’s career in the sound and lighting industry. John spent many years first as a “road” sound engineer, later as a manufacturer’s representative for such audio & lighting companies as EAW, Mackie, and Leprecon.

After years of traveling the country in this industry, John resettled near his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. John’s experience in sound and lighting was soon in demand locally, then regionally. Thus Blue Ridge Sound was born

John says, “When heading the sound at any particuler show, we will hear, “We want our community concerts to look and sound this good; can you help us with that? ” The answer is: Yes, we can!

To ensure that Blue Ridge Sound has the best sound engineering available, John partnered with Greg Hoyle, who heads up one of western NC’s premier electrical companies. Greg and his talented crew collectively have over 50 years of experience.

A huge note of thanks must be given to Myron Surber, former Technical Director of the COMMA (City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium), for many years of association and friendship. His expertise on countless shows has been invaluable.
